This Body of Birds: On the Trans Experience and Queer Relationships at Iridian Gallery

This collection is a series of narratives of my transition process over the past year. The exhibit contained a mural of my uterus, which connected all of my pieces together throughout the two rooms of the gallery.

Birds are a symbol of freedom, and illustrate my journey to finding a place where I can exist as a transperson. I have a complicated relationship with my uterus, as it has always been with me, but I could never imagine myself using it in ways that were expected of me, as someone who was socialized as female. I wanted to explore all the meanings behind the uterus and the feelings it brings forth- hope, potential, despair, frustration.

What does it mean to uterus havers to hold something so dyanmic?
